Animal Alliance Asia

BRAND EXPANSION, WEBSITE, SOCIAL MEDIA GRAPHICS

The Project

AAA inspires and empowers the animal rights movement in so many countries across Asia. The nature of their impact is a ripple effect – making people powerful in the future, changing narratives and systems for the better. The challenge was: how do we communicate this in a nutshell, within moments of users being exposed to their brand or website? They were in need of a more visually compelling way to communicate what they do, and a website that summarizes their work in a concise and engaging way.

Our Approach

We evaluated their existing brand to find out whether or not it was a solid foundation upon which to build more brand elements. Afterwards, we built an expanded brand kit, website, and social templates to help their teams create consistent and compelling graphics across all their programs. Along the way, we consulted with AAA to ensure the designs were culturally appropriate for the variety of countries they work in, and that everyone felt represented and supported.

Core Branding Check

Before we came in, AAA had a solid core brand palette and logo that have become iconic within the movement. It was critical to keep these elements to maintain that existing equity. This brand base represents their brand personality flawlessly, so we stayed true to their original design scheme. We provided a larger suite of logo files and a full brand guide to help complete the kit.

Sub-Branding

AAA currently has seven fellowships across various Asian countries, each with their own unique offerings and needs. We decided to sub-brand these fellowships to simultaneously help them feel tied to the core AAA branding, as well as standing apart slightly to help users understand which country is being represented in which piece of media.

The result is a cohesive look for each fellowship: a color, sub-brand logo set, and a unique geometric shape that references the core brand’s geometry. This is a pattern that can be expanded over time if more countries are included as AAA grows.

Website Design

The previous website struggled to immediately make clear AAA’s mission and impact. We worked with AAA on streamlining their website’s content to create a strong first impression for first-time visitors. We ensured the website was easily scannable, so users can immediately understand the most critical parts of the website. Creating an engaging experience also encourages users to dig in and discover more of AAA’s content, including their new Blog section, Impact page, and updated Programs.

Social Media Graphics

We created a robust social media kit for AAA to use seamlessly among all of their fellowships within Canva. This included a brand kit with all assets included in the brand guide, as well as a large set of templates that are appropriate for both general AAA and fellowship-specific communications.

Other Graphic Elements

The brand kit included all elements used to create their custom brand graphics – All geometric shapes, patterns, animal silhouettes, and photo editing techniques used to assemble their collage images.

Working alongside Vegan Hactivists and Violet Studios has been an incredible journey for Animal Alliance Asia. From the inception of AAA, they’ve been a great support, laying the groundwork for our website. During our brand refresh phase, they guided us seamlessly through the process. What truly sets them apart is their genuine effort to understand our values and ethos, reflected beautifully in their designs. We’re immensely grateful for their partnership and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact together!
