LOGO UPDATE, BRAND EXPANSION, WEBSITE, MOTION DESIGN

The Project

AVA International empowers global advocates through high-impact events and year-round collaboration, strengthening strategy and funding pathways across the movement. As their work expanded over the years, they needed a brand identity capable of evolving alongside their growth. We modernized their visual presence to better reflect this scale, creating a flexible system that unites advocates worldwide and supports their work into the future.

Our Approach

We conducted an extensive brand audit, looking for areas of improvement and opportunities to infuse more of AVA’s personality. We found that the original foundation was missing a few pieces, so we led them through a comprehensive brand refresh and website rebuild. The result is a richer, more energetic identity that captures the true inspiration of their gatherings and fully reflects the beauty of their global mission.

Core Brand Refresh

While the movement is familiar with the original AVA logo, the design faced some hurdles. The letters themselves were difficult to read, missing a key opportunity to reinforce the organization’s common shorthand name of “AVA.” In the refreshed version, we prioritized legibility while resolving issues with alignment and scalability, ensuring the mark remains crisp and bold at any size. We also refined the typographic hierarchy, elevating “Animal & Vegan Advocacy" while positioning “International" as a supplementary element for the parent brand.

Finally, we revitalized the core color palette – retaining the familiar brand colors but significantly boosting their vibrancy to infuse the identity with fresh energy and life.

Sub-Branding Hierarchy

We helped visually clarify AVA’s sub-brands, including AVA Summit, AVA Academy, and Grantee Day. We aimed to improve how the public sees and understands how AVA’s programs fit together and connect as a family.

Location-Based Colors

We used color to help differentiate each Summit and Academy by location, bringing clarity and uniqueness to AVA’s promotional materials for each event. Each region has its own color that fits in with the larger brand palette, helping each event feel simultaneously unique and consistent.

Event Photography & Animal Illustrations

A key part of the brand expansion was leaning into AVA’s deep well of event photography – their photo and video libraries are such beautiful visual examples of what it’s like to attend one of their events. These photos are now showcased at every opportunity, uplifting the advocates working hard for animals every day.

Animal illustrations accompany these photographs, to symbolize that while AVA’s events are for humans, the animals are the reason behind all of our work. The illustrations break out of the boundaries, visually symbolizing freedom and breaking barriers.

Branded Motion Design

AVA’s brand presents so many fun opportunities for motion design! Aside from the animated logo, we also introduced this branded loop to play in the backgrounds at events where attendees are filing into the room.

Website Design

To address AVA’s previous website’s accessibility and navigation challenges, we developed a new sitemap and enhanced the UX to ensure attendees could easily find event information. The site was rebuilt on Squarespace with a focus on responsiveness and modern accessibility standards. We transformed the website into the brand's ultimate home base, utilizing bold shapes, custom illustrations, and vibrant colors to create an unforgettable digital experience. High-impact event photography is integrated throughout, capturing the energy and community at the heart of the organization.

Working with Violet Studios on AVA International’s rebrand was deeply transformative. Their team delivered a thoughtful, strategic, and beautifully structured identity system – from brand analysis and a complete logo family to website design, event assets, and document templates – all crafted to strengthen how we communicate and show up in the world.

This work will directly help animals by enabling us to reach, mobilize, and support far more advocates across regions. A clearer, more cohesive brand allows us to share critical knowledge more effectively, engage funders and partners with greater clarity, and create stronger, more accessible programs for people working to end the exploitation of farmed animals. With this rebrand, our movement-building efforts become more impactful and more scalable.

We’re grateful for Violet Studios’ partnership and highly recommend them.
